CONFLICTING INFORMATION. The 2025 AVOI recorded Zambia as considering an advance passenger information system with an authorisation attached. A travel advisory service reports that Zambia now requires an ETA of most visitors including transit passengers. Neither has been confirmed against the Zambian Department of Immigration. Treat as unresolved and check before travelling.

UPDATE 8 SEPTEMBER 2026: Checked the official Zambia Department of Immigration site directly per the 'needs' note below. It makes no mention of an Electronic Travel Authorization anywhere; only e-Visa, visa-free entry for 53 countries, and standard permits are described. This does not conclusively rule out a requirement (a government site can lag reality) but it weighs against the only source claiming a live requirement, which is the same class of commercial travel-advisory source this project has already found unreliable elsewhere (see Libya). Status held at 'proposed' rather than downgraded or upgraded, pending an unambiguous government statement either way. RE-CHECKED 13 SEPTEMBER 2026: same result, still no ETA section on the official site and no newer government statement found either way. RE-CHECKED 19 SEPTEMBER 2026: the official 'For Visitors' page on zambiaimmigration.gov.zm still describes only the e-Visa and the 53-country visa waiver, with no ETA anywhere, and a wider search found no government or credible-outlet statement of an ETA requirement. Status unchanged.
