Since a 31 October 2017 agreement, citizens of the six CEMAC states (Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon) travel visa-free within the bloc on a national ID or biometric passport. What non-CEMAC African travellers require has not been established for this country. Do not assume nothing is required.

Good to know
ANNOUNCED, NOT YET IN FORCE. President Denis Sassou-Nguesso announced in May 2026 that the Republic of the Congo will abolish visa requirements for all African nationals from 1 January 2027. Nothing changes for non-CEMAC travellers until then. Not yet confirmed in a Congolese government notice.
