From 5 January 2025 Mauritania discontinued visa on arrival; all visa-required nationalities, including most Africans, must obtain an e-Visa online before boarding. A reported eight-to-nine country list (Algeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Libya, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Tunisia) remains visa-exempt for 90 days.
It's required for african nationalities outside the visa-exempt list.
Reported around EUR41-55 depending on nationality and category; confirm on the official e-Visa portal.
You can't get it on arrival. It has to be sorted before you fly.
Airlines check for it before you board, so travelling without it can mean not flying at all.
