Do you need to apply before you fly?
A growing number of African countries now ask you to apply for entry permission online before you travel, even without a visa. Miss it and you can be turned away at boarding.
We track what each scheme actually asks for, so you can sort it out before you book, not after.

None found, traditional consular visa, small African exemption list
Checked. No ETA or e-Visa open to African nationals was found. A small number of African neighbours (reported as roughly six or seven countries, including Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Seychelles and Tunisia) enter visa-free or with permission on arrival. All other African nationalities must apply for a traditional visa in person at an Algerian embassy or consulate before travel. Algeria does run an eVisa portal, but reporting indicates it is currently limited to a short list of non-African nationalities (EU/Schengen, US, Canada, Gulf states), not to Africans generally.
It's required for traditional consular visa for African nationalities not on the small exemption list.
Not established for African nationalities; embassy visa fees vary.
Good to know
Distinct from Morocco's temporary AEVM scheme, under which Algerian citizens themselves needed a travel authorisation for AFCON 2025, that scheme concerned Algerians travelling to Morocco, not travel into Algeria.
