Rwanda

Buhoro Buhoro Retreat is a premium, immersive travel experience by Ria's Colony that invites travelers to slow down and experience Rwanda beyond the typical itinerary. Inspired by the Kinyarwanda philosophy of Buhoro buhoro ("slowly, slowly"), the retreat combines cultural immersion, meaningful conversations, local experiences, and thoughtful exploration to help participants connect more deeply with Rwanda's people, history, innovation, and way of life. Available as a three-day or seven-day experience, the retreat is designed for curious travelers, professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs, and anyone seeking a more intentional way to travel.

Travel isn't only about where you go. It's about how deeply you're willing to experience a place.

The Buhoro Buhoro Retreat is Ria's Colony's signature immersive travel experience in Rwanda, created for people who want more than sightseeing and bucket lists. Inspired by the Kinyarwanda phrase Buhoro buhoro, meaning "slowly, slowly," the retreat encourages participants to slow down, pay attention, and experience Rwanda through its culture, people, ideas, history, and everyday life.

Rather than rushing from one attraction to another, participants are invited to embrace a more thoughtful style of travel that prioritizes learning, reflection, conversation, and genuine cultural exchange.

Throughout the experience, guests will explore Rwanda beyond its famous landmarks. They'll discover local communities, hear stories from the people who call Rwanda home, experience its food, traditions, entrepreneurship, and innovation, and gain a deeper understanding of how the country has transformed itself into one of Africa's most inspiring development stories.

The retreat also creates space for personal reflection. Whether through quiet moments overlooking Rwanda's beautiful landscapes, meaningful group discussions, journaling, or conversations with local experts and community members, participants are encouraged to return home with something more valuable than photographs: perspective.

The experience is especially valuable for professionals, entrepreneurs, students, researchers, creatives, and anyone interested in African development, cultural tourism, regional integration, leadership, and personal growth. Participants are encouraged to think about how lessons from Rwanda might inspire new ideas, businesses, collaborations, or solutions within their own communities.

Guests can choose between a three-day introductory experience or a more comprehensive seven-day immersive retreat, depending on how deeply they wish to explore the country.

To preserve the quality of the experience, each retreat is intentionally kept small, with only 15 participants per cohort, allowing for meaningful conversations, personalized experiences, and genuine connections among attendees.

This is not simply a holiday.

It is an invitation to slow down, learn deeply, and experience Rwanda beyond the itinerary.
